The Railway Inn, Congleton is a large pub that is split into two main areas. To the left of the pub "from the front" is a well laid out dining area and to the right is the main bar area, which houses a pool table. To the rear of the pub is a beer garden and bowling green.
The pub, as you might expect is decked out with rail memorabilia and is well presented. There are three cask bitters to choose from, so I tried the Boddingtons. It was a clear, pleasant tasting pint. The second pint was the same except for the fact that I was only served just over ¾ of a pint, due to the very large head on the beer. But this was corrected after I asked for the glass to be “topped up”
It is a friendly local pub that does well on the catering side too. From whole families to couples who fancy an inexpensive, tasty meal.

I have just returned from “doing lunch” at the Railway and was very impressed. They had a good selection of cask ales available and I opted for the Marstons Pedigree. It was a nice clear pint that went down a treat.
My wife and I also ordered our lunch and were delighted not only with the price but also the presentation and taste of the food.
The bar/waiting on staff were also a credit to the pub and made the whole experience a pleasure.
Well done.
